Amy Helm and the Handsome Strangers are on tour opening for Anders Osborne. The opening show was held at Nashville's City Winery. As soon as they hit the stage came the realization that this was a woman whose talent is going to take her far, very far.

Lotus at Bogarts

Lotus is on a national tour with Michael Menert and made a stop at Bogarts last night to a packed house. Michael Menert, founder of Super Best Records and old producer for Pretty Lights, opened the show with a great set. If you get to see this tour, do not miss Michael Menert.

Lotus played two long sets of music and had a great light show to accompany the music. The crowd was very active and its clear that Lotus is building its loyal fanbase around the country. I talked to several people that road tripped to be at the show. Catch Lotus' website at to see where they are playing near you.

Turkuaz with Ghost Note (Snarky Puppy) and Special Guest Freekbass

Turkuaz and Ghost Note put on a great show at the Madison Theater this week. Ghost Note opened the show but were no regular opening act. The two drummers for Ghost Note are half of the band Snarky Puppy and could play with any band on tour. The percussionist of Ghost Note had a birthday and everyone celebrated on stage.

The Brooklyn based Turkuaz, played a long set of music and closed with "Take Me to the River." Freekbass made a special appearance and played a few songs with Turkuaz. These bands will be touring all over this summer and playing several festivals. Looking forward to this week's music lineup and stay tuned for photos from Lotus, Widespread Panic, Springsteen and Pearl Jam.
