Moogfest 2014 is fast approaching to the legions of electronic music fans in the southeast.  It is taking place over five days from April 23-27 in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.  Since coming to Asheville, North Carolina in 2010, Moogfest has become the premier urban music festival, bringing the top of the line music and workshops to multiple venues around downtown Asheville.  Moogfest is named after the late Bob Moog, known as the inventor of electronic music and the Moog Synthesizer.  The festival is held in order to honor the creativity and inventiveness that Bob Moog spread throughout his life.

Asheville was the home for Bob Moog for the last 25 years of his life, and is currently the headquarters for Moog Music Inc., The Moog Foundation, Dr. Bob’s Sound School, and the Moogseum, which is dedicated to be an educational outlook into the history of Bob Moog’s inventions and innovations.  Moog Music still produces the best electronic equipment such as the Voyager Synthesizers, the Moogerfooger guitar pedals, and theramins.  After taking a break in the year, 2013, Moogfest is coming back in the spring harder than ever with a larger than life lineup of over 100 artists and spanning five nights.

The daytime is something that is being given a large shift in importance this year, as all five afternoons will be packed with over 60 conferences and talks from top inventors, musicians, designers, and thinkers as well as experimental performances, workshops, art installations, and experimental performances.

Moogfests in the past have featured performances from legendary musical artists such as Moby, Amon Tobin, and Big Boi from Outkast.  This year is no different.  This year there will be over 100 musical acts including performances from M.I.A., Benie Worell Orchestra, Kraftwerk, Sasha, Mark Farina, and RJD2.  Tickets are on sale now starting at $299 for all five days and nights of entertainment, and $199 for nighttime only.  If you are at all a fan of electronic music then this event is not to be missed.  Check out http://www.moogfest.com for more information and to purchase tickets.
