Emi Sunshine has had quite a year. Her first appearance at the Ryman for Marty Stuart's Late Night Jam, her Grand Ole Opry Debut, and this last week saw her first appearance at Nashville's iconic Station Inn followed by a music industry showcase at BMI.

If bluegrass music has a “home” in Nashville it would have to be the Station Inn. You really have not “made it” til you have played there. Well Emi played there last Friday and was a huge success. It was two sets of pure Sunshine, Emi singing her heart out with the “Rain” doing it's usual great job of backing her up. A special moment was when she covered Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead's “Sugaree”. This brought her a standing ovation. Another highpoint was her own song, “Johnny, June, and Jesus”.

Then the next Tuesday she played and was recognized at a special Music Industry showcase for BMI. When invited to do this you are indeed on the rise in the music business. Founded in 1939, BMI is the largest music rights organization and represents more than 650,000 songwriters, composers, and publishers. She was introduced by Clay Bradley, Assistant Vice President over songwriter/publisher relations.  Playing for the movers and shakers did not faze Emi at all. In fact they were totally won over by her singing, songwriting skills, and that stage presence reminiscent of June Carter Cash. Afterward during the meet and greet she once again displayed the presence of an experienced artist while mingling with the crowd.
