Jason Bonham at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado 8-7-23

Day two of my Red Rocks bucket list adventure trip was the best of the two. The weather was wonderful, and this time I had a pass to shoot from the photo pit. Plus, there were 2 great bands, Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening, and Gov't Mule doing their own music as well as a set of Pink Floyd songs.

Bonham's band opened the show performing their Led Zeppelin Evening.

I was fortunate to see Led Zeppelin several times in the 70s, and they definitely cemented a place in my memory as one of the greatest bands of all time. Jason Bonham's band is amazing, and they sound closer to the original Led Zeppelin than any tribute band ever could.

Vocalist James Dylan sounds very much like Robert Plant.

He sings with emotion and is very animated on stage.

Guitarist Jimmy Sakurai mimicks Jimmy Page perfectly,
and even kinda looks like Page used to look from a distance.

Bassist Dorian Heartsong does a great job with the low notes.

Jason Bonham, son of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham (R.I.P.), hits hard, and tells stories throughout the show about growing up with his famous dad in England. He mentioned that Zeppelin was much more famous in the states than they were back home.

The band came out on stage to a LZ recorded "In the Light,"
and then opened the set with  "Good Times, Bad Times."

Following this classic rocker, the band played: "The Ocean,"
"Over the Hills and Far Away," "Ramble On," "What Is and What Should Never Be,"
"Immigrant Song," "Thank You," "Black Dog," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Whole Lotta Love, and finished with the iconic "Rock and Roll."

The sold-out crowd was very enthusiastic throughout the set, and I'm sure every person there would agree with me that I could have listened to this fantastic band all night long.

Every song was played to near perfection so it was kind of like a blast from the past for me. If you ever get a chance to see this great tribute to the historic Led Zeppelin, grab your tickets fast as it's sure to sell out!!!

Red Rocks is a unique venue set in the mountains of Morrison, Colorado, about a half hour from Denver. I highly recommend that you add this amazing concert amphitheatre to your bucket list! Be sure to check out the dinosaur museum and Dinosaur Ridge just a few miles away as well.
