Garry Shider will long be remembered as a core backbone to Parliament Funkadelic and George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars.
Despite battling a severe illness, Garry stayed on tour with George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars up until just before his passing.
George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars are still maintaining a heavy tour schedule and have been putting out some really high energy shows recently. Here are over 100 P-Funk photos from their performance at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC in April 2010 - George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars Photos.
The Mothership will be landing with George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars performing at two of the best festivals on the east coast - Nateva Festival and All Good Festival.
This 4th of July weekend this year P-Funk will be performing at the first annual Nateva Festival. P-Funk is scheduled to perform on July 4 on main stage at Nateva Festival. The festival is being held in Oxford, Maine.

For 48 years Long Park (Lancaster Pa) has offered free music on Sunday night in the summer. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals kick's off Long Parks 13 week summer series this year. With there new cd (Grace Potter and the Nocturnals) due out Tuesday some 8,000 people were on hand to enjoy the show. The Nocturnals consist of Scott Tournet (lead guitar) Matt Barr (drums) Catherine Popper (bass) and Benny Yurco (rhythm guitar). Grace Potter was wearing a short fire engine red dress and sun glasses as she entered the stage. Starting with "Joey" and then moving into some fast-paced tunes, including "Goodbye Kiss," "Money" and "Only Love." They then slowed it down some with a short acoustic songs. (this was new for me) Ain't No Time and Ragged. They then pick the pace back up again. They ended the set with Medicine. They then game out to do a 3 song encore starting with Blondie's Heart of Glass.
Holy Fuck at (Le) Poisson Rouge May 28, 2010 The Toronto based electronic noise act Holy Fuck played on Friday, May 28th at (Le) Poisson Rouge in New York City. They are currently touring to promote their new album “Latin” released this year. They wasted no time getting into fast paced, striking beats, flowing feedback, looped with hard drums and base. A friend once described their music as sounding like “a drug induced panic attack”, and at times it does, in the best possible way. This show will get you moving and will not disappoint. Holy fuck is: Brian Borcherdt, Graham Walsh, Matt McQuaid & Matt Schulz Tour dates and ticket info can be found at the band's webpage: www.holyfuckmusic.com
LCD Soundsystem electrified Terminal 5 in New York City on Sunday, May 23, 2010. This performance was their 4th sold-out concert in a row in their home city. LCD's frontman, James Murphy, is a master at what he does and continues to push the limits with their new CD, "This is Happening".
For a band that was able to get booked to play the outlandishly popular Telluride Bluegrass Festival before ever playing a show; they have gone on to emblazon audiences with a musical meld of high level artistry. I have enjoyed witnessing their unique flavors of highly bluegrass tinged music for over seven years, although they formed just before that Telluride show in 2001.
They have since produced three albums of imaginative construct and great instrumental quality. Railroad Earth by all counts is a fans band; lighting up venues of all kinds and unleashing a wave of playful soul stirring boogie not to be missed. Now if ever things could be better for the band, they are; having been the "Friends" in "Phil & Friends" the famous side project for Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead. They have continued to progress as a group of exceptional and aware musicians; who seek to equal their audiences passion for their work, with a lovingly assembled tapestry in each of their live shows.
On Saturday April 24th 2010, Railroad Earth brought its own version of (string amped/americana/rock) to The Orange Peel a well known venue in Asheville NC. I had seen them backstage before going on and could tell they were excited, to bring a memorable evening to crowd eager to see them again.
As well, the stand-out Asheville group Now You See Them opened the night, with a set of enthralling (indie/pop/folk) juiced up with non-traditional instruments. Although there are three core members (Jason, Dulci, Shane) they usually incorporate other musicians; as they did this night. Their eccentric high energy, well placed harmony and sweetly crafted melodies; really catapulted the substantial early audience into the fluid bouncing soirees they are known for. It is my understanding this was the first time NYST played at The Orange Peel; the beautiful fun-filled opening set they produced being evidence of what is to come. Current Railroad Earth members are Todd Sheaffer, Tim Carbone, John Skehan, Andy Goessling, Carey Harmon & Andrew Altman.
After a short interlude Railroad Earth lit up this smaller venue; crafting with ease and expertise the kind of performance we know them for. The already fully engaged audience had an immediate immersion of boogie filter the room, which none could escape. They continued on an expansively playful foray for a couple hours, to a packed house. You could feel the crowd flowing with the band and showing their joyous appreciation throughout the night. Yet again, showing their ability to make fans feel as though being treated to an at home performance by grate "Friends"; but also witnessing the incredible. The enthralled crowd left them with a trail of cheers and fan love, so thick you could cut a doughnut out of it.
As for Railroad Earth, this was one of a unique assemblage of venues in their Spring Tour; from a live broadcast on "World Cafe" to save the historic Queen Theater in Wilmington Delaware, to the always rollicking Wakarusa Music Festival in Ozark Arkansas, and ending with the exciting Clearwater's River Festival in Hudson New York on June 19 and 20. This all continues into their Summer Tour packed with outstanding festival engagements like: High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy California, All Good Festival in Masontown West Virginia, and the Mile High Music Festival in Commerce City Colorado.
Railroad Earth as always use their prowess to bring enlightened, blistering, spell-binding performances; that aid us in digging down into the musical roots as well spiraling onto transcendent "musicscapes".
