Bob Weir and Wolf Bros Tropical Tuesday Tour in Miami Beach

They say hard work pays off.  Bob Weir is embracing this motto on several fronts.  Particularity, with his tackling tour schedule with 19 shows performed in March, and 21 total in his band's spring tour which ran from February 28 to March 30, not counting the May 3rd date at BeachLife Festival.  On another front, Mr. Weir, at 72, has been posting some impressive exercise videos to his artist Facebook page, showing him and Wolf Bros drummer Jay Lane making steady use of gyms along the tour.

Miami Beach was vibrant and hospitable, with impressive architecture and art at each turn.  Prominent integrations of culture took forms in murals, sculptures, facades, and landscaping.

Review and Photos by Jeremy Rickman of JKR Photography

Top Fuel Saloon has been called the CBGB of the Midwest. Owner Freak is a local DJ at the metal station at Q-Rock 100.7 at the moment but has been a staple for Rock and Metal for the last 25 years in the Chicago area including 9 years as a sidekick to Madcow's Morning Madhouse. Opening 2 years ago Top Fuel Saloon has been a stop for up-and-coming bands as well as major headliners to stop and rest, relax, jam out, and have a place to call home if only for a night or two. On March 31st they celebrated their 2nd Anniversary and Otherwise, Wayland, Vital Empire and Backlash helped party the night away.

A Weekend with the Bruce Katz Band

February 25th and 26th
By Michael Yanko and Michelle Wilson

Some bands are so good that you just cannot get enough of them, and for us, the Bruce Katz Band is definitely one of them! With keys master Bruce Katz tickling the ivories, Chris Vitarello playing ultra clean guitar licks and belting out strong, smooth vocals, and Ray Hangen banging out precise drum beats, this power blues/rock/jazz trio thrilled the crowds everywhere we went. Katz (Blues Hall of Fame Inductee 2013) has performed with the likes of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, John Hammond, Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters and Delbert McClinton, to name a few. In addition to playing with Katz, Vitarello (Blues Hall of Fame Inductee 2013) also has collaborated with the late Jimmy McGriff, Tad Robinson and Floyd Miles, in addition to many others, and is a member of the Chris O’Leary Band. Hangen (2010 Buffalo Music Award for Best Blues Drummer) has played with The Blues Hounds and Brandon Santini.

JD & The Straight Shot

By Michael Yanko
for Concert Photos Magazine

Live at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL 1-24-17

When you are selected to be the opening act for a sold out Don Henley concert you have to be doing something right!

The band represents a combination of blues, rock, Americana, country, and bluegrass.

The acoustic set by JD & The Straight Shot was very entertaining and they did a great job warming up the crowd.  JD (James Dolan, yes, THAT James Dolan) was very personable, and what little he may have lacked in vocal skills he more than made up for through rapport with the crowd and an excellent supporting band.  JD wonderfully explained the history and/or meaning of each song and the crowd really seemed to be very responsive to his banter. The band has recorded 6 albums and performed a nice mix of a few older originals and songs off their new album “Ballyhoo.”

Warren Haynes brought the Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration to Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The elegant hall more accustomed to Black Tie and Elegant evening wear was overwhelmed with tie dye and dreadlocks. Where the patrons usually sit politely the kids (of all ages) danced and spun the night away.

It was the worst Nashville winter in years and as the Jack Pearson Trio began to play it was snowing again. Mayor Dean had urged everyone to stay off the roads that night but for Jack's loyal fans that meant nothing.

The famous Muddy Waters album (that album cover says it all) seemed to fit the spirit of the show Michael and Dylan McDonald played at the Ryman Auditorium recently. A Typical night in Music City continued (#6) with “Fabrizio and the Fever”

Dec. 22, 2014
Nashville, TN.

Review and Photos by Butch Worrell of One Heart Photo

It was musical photography feast time in Nashville last Thursday night! Three venue's, 6 bands were on the table. 12th and Porter's “Toys for Tots” show continued to rock on.
It was time for the finale of the night, “Fabrizio and the Fever”.

Michael Fabrizio is a talented singer/songwriter whose inspiration comes from his life experiences, songs which one can find meaning in and connect with. “Fever” is an eclectic group of musicians which provide the energy, spirit, and passion to complement Michael. In his own words, “We are genre gypsies starting a rock and roll revolution in the Nashville Indie scene.”

The Augustines at The Independent

It's fortunate that The Augustines, a band that was recently on the verge of calling it quits, managed to find their way to recording their sophomore album, "Augustines." This past Monday night saw them in top form as Billy McCarthy (lead vocals & guitar), Rob Allen (drums) and Eric Sanderson (bass, keys & guitar) rolled through San Francisco with a stop at The Independent in San Francisco.
