Sam Bush, Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers, Steep Canyon Rangers in 2014

We had a great week this summer with Sam Bush, Nicki Bluhm & the Gramlers, and the Steep Canyon Rangers. Each band offers their own blend of bluegrass, folk, and rock. Caught all three of these acts at The Telluride Bluegrass Festival and got a chance to hang out with these bands. All three groups were class acts and some of the nicest people around, performing great live music. Check them out if they come to a town near you. (Low light at this venue)

The Steep Canyon Rangers at the Opera House of Boothbay Harbor - Saturday August 6th, 2011.

This blazing hot bluegrass group , has been named Emerging Artists of the Year by The International Bluegrass Music Association. 

Hailing from Brevard, N.C.,(with frequent photo features at concertphotosmagazine.com), Steep Canyon Rangers have appeared from Los Angeles to New York, performing at all the major bluegrass festivals in the US and abroad. They have recorded with Paul McCartney and recently earned fame as the backup band for comic-turned-outstanding-banjo-player Steve Martin. It was another classic Opera House performance and "as good as it gets in tradition-based modern bluegrass".

Bluegrass masters, the Steep Canyon Rangers were joined by comedian/musician Steve Martin on banjo at the 2010 Bonnaroo Music Festival.  Performing on Friday at That Tent, the covered tent and setting sun provided relief from was was a very hot afternoon.

With a traditional Bluegrass sound, the Asheville based Steep Canyon Rangers and Steve Martin treated the many who came to Bonnaroo from beyond the southeast as well as music fans that had short drives, to foot-stomping authentic Bluegrass Music, a musical genre founded in the region.
