Agnes Obel at the Tin Angel

June 15, 2011

The Danish songwriter/composer Agnes Obel performed at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday. The Tin Angel was the very last stop of her first US tour. She is an amazing pianist with beautiful vocals.

Agnes has become something of a phenomenon overseas, going platinum (100,000 albums) in France, double platinum in Denmark, and sold out venues across Europe. She released a new EP, iTunes Live From Paris, exclusively through iTunes on May 31st. Recorded at the iTunes Opera Store in Paris in March, the EP features some of Agnes’ classic tracks from her debut record, Philharmonics, as well as Agnes’ haunting take on Elliott Smith’s “Between The Bars.”

Blaise Delfino Performs Live at Best Buy

Blaise Delfino Performs Live at Best Buy
June 11, 2011

It was an evening of high energy entertainment inside the Best Buy Oxford Valley store in Fairless Hills, PA when 19 year old Pop Rock recording artist Blaise Delfino performed an hour long concert to a packed-in crowd. Blaise performed songs off his current CD along with some news songs from his upcoming album and a few cover songs as well.

Blaise Delfino’s set was acoustic for this show and he also performed solo. His look is similar to that of the Disney stars and his songs had clean lyrics and were family friendly.

After his performance, Blaise Delfino took the time to sign autographs and take photos with all the fans that lined up to meet him. They all seemed so excited to have this opportunity to meet him in person. I’m sure this will be an evening that many of his young fans will remember for a long time to come.

The Chicago based band consists of Genevieve Schatz on vocals, Marc Walloch on guitar, Chris Faller on drums, Marcin Sulewski on bass and Eitan Bernstein on keys are on tour supporting their second album release, "Running From A Gamble". The lead-off single, "Death of Communication", was released on March 15, 2011. Start to end, fans threw the energy right back to the band as Genevieve belted out song after song!

The band has toured non-stop for the past several years, performing headlining dates and also opening for bands such as OK GO and The Hold Steady, followed by duets with Daryl Hall on his hit show, “Live From Daryl’s House.” Reviews of their first album Ordinary Riches, and live performances have been nothing but positive. Marty Jams with Dolly Parton, Mel Tillis and more at the Ryman!!

By Butch Worrell

Marty threw a party for his 10th annual Late Night jam, inviting his old time friends and raising more than $30,000 for MusiCares, including some to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Marty and his Fabulous Superlatives hosted Mel Tillis, Dolly Parton , Doug Kershaw, Ricky Skaggs, Duane Eddy, Connie Smith, The Quebe Sisters Band, Doug Kershaw and my favorite, Lorrie Carter Bennett. The daughter of Anita Carter, she sang Ring of Fire the way her Mom did to a great round of applause. It was a wonderful night, seeing Dolly et al perform at the Ryman. And where would Marty be without Eddie Stubbs to announce. Thank you Marty for all you do for country music, not just bringing us super stars like Dolly and Mel but introducing us to the roots of country music with artists like Lorrie.
