Explosions In The Sky at Bogart's

Explosions In The Sky play an epic live show. They graced Bogart's on Tuesday night to a crowded house. This was EITS's first trip to Cincinnati and it is evident that they have a loyal fan base. I had only seen EITS once at a large festival in California, but they sounded amazing in a 1500 capacity size venue. Check these guys from Austin, Texas out if you get the chance. EITS are a live act not to be missed.

Blues Traveler & Motherfolk at Bogart's

Blues Traveler and Motherfolk played at Bogart's last week. Blues Traveler played old school songs off of the first album and Travelers and Thieves, and several covers that the audience have never heard them perform, as the covers are exclusive to this tour and are on their new album, Blow Up the Moon. It was a nostalgic evening for most of us in the crowd and I forgot how good Blue Traveler is live. The last time I saw Traveler at Bogart's was in 1992 with the Spin Doctors and The Aquarium Rescue Unit...(Lighting was quite dark w lots of red/blue at this show)

Snoop Dogg Brings the Party to Bogart's

Snoop Dogg/Lion played for a small sold out crowd this Friday night at Bogart's. Snoop has been playing small venues at select spots across the country during the winter with a plan to return to the big arenas/festivals this summer.  I think all bands should do this from time to time, as intimate atmosphere adds to the experience of a great performer. Snoop played all the classics and a few new  tracks for the crowd. On this particular night, Snoop showed up fashionable late but still played a strong set of what the crowd wanted to hear. Check out more of my crowd coverage at NBC.com under their music section. (Not a whole lot of wide angle shots as I have two lenses getting worked on at this moment.)

City and Colour with Sleepy Sun

Dallas Green and his band played a near sold out performance this past week at Bogart's. Sleepy Sun opened up and did not disappoint as a prior opener for The Black Angels (a favorite band of mine). Jack Lawrence (Greenhornes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather) is currently on tour with City and Colour as their bassist. City and Colour clearly has a cult following as everyone in the audience seemed familiar with their material. Dallas is currently on tour in the Eastern United States.

Frightened Rabbit at Bogart's with The Twilight Sad

Frightened Rabbit is an indie rock band from Selkirk, Scotland. The band recently released it's fourth album, Pedestrian Verse, in February of 2013 and has gotten great reviews and lots of air time with independent radio such as David Dye's World Cafe. The lineup consists of Scott Hutchison on vocals and rhythm guitar, Grant Hutchison on percussion, Billy Kennedy on lead guitar, Andy Monaghan on bass and keyboards and Gordon Skene on guitar and keyboards. The band is currently on tour in the United States and selling out many venues. Please visit the band's website for more information on this band on the rise at www.frightenedrabbit.com.
