Primus…..Gone Country??

By Butch Worrell
      Nashville, TN

Les Claypool’s Primus rolled into Nashville for a show at the “Mother Church” of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium.

Even though Jay Lane’s setlist art might suggest that Primus is going country let me assure you that is not the case! Primus is still that funky, earth shaking musical style all of it’s own.  If the ghost of Captain Ryman was around that night I’m sure his mind  was blown away  by the music.  As was everyone in attendance.

UPCOMING 2012 GREEN RIVER FESTIVAL

The 2012 GREEN RIVER FESTIVAL
will be held July 14th and 15th, on the grounds of
Greenfield Community College (I-91, Exit 26, Greenfield, MA).

Begun in 1986 as a balloon festival, The Green River Festival has gained increasing popularity each year as more and more musical entertainment was incorporated. Today it has become THE summer musical event in Western Massachusetts, featuring the best national talent, the greatest local food and fine crafts. The 2012 lineup features a most amazing and eclectic mix of musical styles... including Folk music icon Arlo Guthrie, Los Angeles based Los Lobos and Ozomatli, Richard Thompson, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires and many others.

Complete 2012 performer lineup

There are three stages of music — the main stage, the dance tent (a fiesta for your feet!) and the River's Meltdown Kids' Stage — so there's something for everyone! Check the schedule page to find out when and where your favorite band is playing.

Images and article by Bill Kelly

The Jacksons - Jermaine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie, played the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem last Thursday night,  almost exactly three years after the death of their famous brother, Michael.   Stepping back into the limelight, the remaining brothers honored their past and demonstrated why they are the forerunners of all the boy bands that followed.
