Resonance:Reconstructed

Resonance Music and Arts Festival is a festival put on by the crew from Essential Productions next September. The warm up to Resonance Festival took place this weekend with Papadosio, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and Strange Mechanics. All three bands played to a sold out crowd at the Madison Theater in a warm up for next weeks performance at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Papadosio and Pigeons are on the rise and we are always impressed that these bands get better with every performance. Keep an eye on your schedule as they are sure to play a show or fest near you. Check out Resonance Festival next September in Thornville.

Tauk with Peridoni at The Madison Theater

Tauk played The Madison Theater with Peridoni this weekend and rocked the stage. These two bands have had a lot of good momentum this and are playing several festivals this spring and fall. This show was moved from Madison Live to the Madison Theater as there was a great turn out. Check out their schedule at www(dot)taukband(dot)com.

Turkuaz with Ghost Note (Snarky Puppy) and Special Guest Freekbass

Turkuaz and Ghost Note put on a great show at the Madison Theater this week. Ghost Note opened the show but were no regular opening act. The two drummers for Ghost Note are half of the band Snarky Puppy and could play with any band on tour. The percussionist of Ghost Note had a birthday and everyone celebrated on stage.

The Brooklyn based Turkuaz, played a long set of music and closed with "Take Me to the River." Freekbass made a special appearance and played a few songs with Turkuaz. These bands will be touring all over this summer and playing several festivals. Looking forward to this week's music lineup and stay tuned for photos from Lotus, Widespread Panic, Springsteen and Pearl Jam.

The War on Drugs

The War on Drugs played a fabulous pre-Bonnaroo show at the Madison Theater. The band is promoting their new album, Lost in the Dream, which is one of the best albums of the year. The War on Drugs are gaining huge momentum as a band. They continue their tour after Bonnaroo playing the east coast and then onto Europe to play Rokslide Festival and many others.

Lotus Performs On Their Gilded Age Tour

Lotus returned to the Madison Theater on Tuesday night to a packed crowd on their Gilded Age Tour. The band played lots of new and old stuff and had the crowd going all night long. They played two full sets and have definitely stepped up their live performances and have an incredible light show to accompany the live experience. Rebelution at the Madison Theater

Rebelution came to the Madison Theater on February 8, 2014 to play for a sold out crowd last Saturday night. I noticed that there were lots of Cincinnati Bengals running around before the show. It turns out they were having an end of the season party upstairs in the balcony for the performance. Domata Peko, a defensive tackle for the Bengals, introduced the team and brought about 8 other team members up on stage to kick off the night. The home town crowd went wild and Rebelution went into a great set of old and new songs. Toubab Krewe with special guests Baoku Moses and The Image Afrobeat Band

Got a chance to catch up with my old buddies out of Asheville last night at the Madison Theater. The Toubab Krewe put on a good set as usual and gained a lot of new fans. Most of the people I talked to in the room said they have never seen Toubab before but had heard of their original sounds. Baoku Moses and The Image Afrobeat Band also played a great set of originals. They are currently based in Cincinnati as Baoku is originally from Nigeria. Check out more at www.toubabkrewe.com

Fitz and the Tantrums with The Capitol Cities

Fitz and the Tantrums and The Capitol Cities dropped by the Madison Theater on Thursday night to a near sold out crowd to show off their unique sounds. I have only seen these two bands at large festivals and enjoyed seeing them in a more intimate location. Both of these bands have great crowd interaction and are well known for putting on an epic live performance. The crowd was dancing hard at this one!

Victor Wooten at the Madison Theater

Victor Wooten is hands down one of the best bass players alive. He has won "Bass Player of the Year" in Bass Player Magazine three times in a row and shows no sign of slowing down. Victor started playing at the age of two and by the time he was six was opening for Curtis Mayfield with his families' band on a national tour. He was also well-know as the bass player for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Victor is as nice and humble as pro-musicians come and a pleasure to interview.

On this particular evening, the other bass player on stage (Steve) is the head of the bass department at the famed Berkley School of Music. There was a good half-hour of dueling basses and plenty of drums, guitars, and keys. He and his band delivered two great sets of music ranging from funk/soul to long instrumental jams. Victor is on tour for a few more weeks and then starts sessions up at his own Bass Camp.
