A Weekend with the Bruce Katz Band

February 25th and 26th
By Michael Yanko and Michelle Wilson

Some bands are so good that you just cannot get enough of them, and for us, the Bruce Katz Band is definitely one of them! With keys master Bruce Katz tickling the ivories, Chris Vitarello playing ultra clean guitar licks and belting out strong, smooth vocals, and Ray Hangen banging out precise drum beats, this power blues/rock/jazz trio thrilled the crowds everywhere we went. Katz (Blues Hall of Fame Inductee 2013) has performed with the likes of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg Allman, John Hammond, Ronnie Earl and The Broadcasters and Delbert McClinton, to name a few. In addition to playing with Katz, Vitarello (Blues Hall of Fame Inductee 2013) also has collaborated with the late Jimmy McGriff, Tad Robinson and Floyd Miles, in addition to many others, and is a member of the Chris O’Leary Band. Hangen (2010 Buffalo Music Award for Best Blues Drummer) has played with The Blues Hounds and Brandon Santini.

We recently caught up with blues great Damon Fowler after an outstanding performance at Earl's Hideaway in Sebastian, Florida. It was the 2nd time we'd seen Damon play in 5 days and both shows were outstanding. If you've never been to a show at Earl's put it on your bucket list, Franni Southern puts on a fabulous "Frannipalooza" every Sunday with great blues and rock music... and it's always free!

Biscuit Miller and the Mix Review, Interview, and Photos

Frannipalooza at Earl's Hideaway- Sebastian, Florida 4-6-14

Before we went to see them we had never heard of Biscuit Miller and the Mix. 8 hours later we had 5 great new friends for life and our socks properly rocked off and rolled up.

Fortunately for us this was the last stop on their tour so we got to spend some extra time with the band after the show.

The band, made up of Biscuit Miller
and his million dollar smile,

(He actually went out into the crowd and danced while playing his wireless bass)

Dr. Love                                                          Bobby B
and Southside (Alex Smith)

were accompanied on the tour by Biscuit's lifelong friend (and ours too now) Datrick. >>>

These guys are one heck of a bunch of nice people and we immediately liked them and loved their music. By the time they were done we loved them too! They were the only band playing and they played two very long sets. They kept the crowd dancing and to a one I'm sure that they'll be watching Earl's schedule wondering when Biscuit will be back again.

Biscuit plays his bass like it's a lead guitar, Bobby and Southside take turns wowing the crowd with fabulous guitar work, Doc rocks the kit and keeps the beat, and Datrick just stood there off to the side with a smile that would melt butter.

Be sure to see the band whenever they are in a venue near you www.biscuitmiller.com
