Bright Light Social Hour with Black Taxi

Bright Light Social Hour (Austin) and Black Taxi (NYC) made a stop at Cosmic Charlies this past week. We decided to check these guys out on the way back from Asheville's Mountain Oasis Festival and found two great bands. BLSH is an up and coming band out of Austin, Texas who have been dazzling crowds at Austin City Limits Festival and SXSW. During SXSW, the band took home the award for Best Album at the Austin Music Awards. Both these bands delivered their own versions of Soul, Funk, Indie and Psychedelia playing styles.  I am certain you will be hearing more about both of these bands in the near future.

So Sweet the Hour and Panic the Brave

Next up was a group called Panic the Brave. They've got an edgier sound than you'd expect from their appearance. Using lasers and fog, the set the tone for their entire show, which is rather dark and dramatic.

The Cody Johnson Band, Texas Music

Cody Johnson and The Cody Johnson Band are a "country" music group and part of the Texas music scene. Playing all over Texas, they have a great show replete with your typical country music, to include a fiddle, because "if your gonna play in Texas, you gotta have a fiddle in the band," but they also rock the crowd pretty hard with some great guitar riffs and some rockin drum beats. You know it's going to be a great show when the crowd is already screaming even before the act takes the stage, and this was no exception. If you've not heard of them before, check them 0ut. You will not be disappointed.

Bleu Edmondson at Greune Hall

Playing in what he has called his favorite venue, Bleu Edmondson did not disappoint at his show on March 11 @ Greune Hall, near New Braunfels, TX. Easily transitioning from a southern, gritty country sound to blues and rock, Edmondson's range delights his fans, who call themselves the "Southland Mob" which comes from the title of his debut CD. Listening to him perform , you definitely hear the sounds of those he says are his influences: Bruce Springsteen, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers, to name a few. Here are just a few photos from his most recent show. To see the entire gallery, visit: http://www.rrisemasphotography.com/.

Cory Morrow at Cowboys Dance Hall

Country and Western musician Cory Morrow worked the crowd and Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, Texas on March 4. Part of what's called the "Red Dirt" music scene, Morrow is a highly sought, energetic musician who doesn't disappoint. From performing in bare feet to using a mini trampoline to get from the upper stage down to the main stage, the fun loving Morrow keeps the crowd engaged throughout the entire show.
