There was something special going down at Nashville's 3rd and Lindsley Sunday night. The Raelyn Nelson band opened up, warming up the crowd for Uncle Luke (as Raelyn calls him) with their unique blend of Rock N Roll (with a lil bit of country). Then the headliner, Lukas Nelson's Promise of the Real proceeded to melt down the house with one of the most powerful performances ever seen and heard at 3rd and Lindsley.

Willie Nelson and Family at Harrah's Cherokee Casino

Willie Nelson & Family graced Western North Carolina this past February with an amazing night of his brand of rebellious country music at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort Event Center.  Willie Nelson is an American icon who is known as a philanthropist and activist for marijuana and animal rights.  The sold out venue contained 3,000 fans eager to see Willie perform with his trusted guitar, Trigger, and his family band.  Nelson’s band included his sister, Bobbie Nelson on piano, his son Lukas on guitar, and Kevin Smith on upright bass.  The show was full of classic Nelson songs including “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die”.

The Family Nelson

By Butch Worrell in Nashville, TN

Willie Nelson and Family, as it says on the equipment case, brought the Country Throwdown tour to Fontanel in the hills of Nashville in the summer of 2011. Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real was one of the opening acts.

Lukas was just a lil bit country but a whole lot of Rock N Roll. He later added his excellent lead guitar work to the “Willie Nelson and Family” set. During his set he brought local family members Raelyn Nelson and Amy Nelson out to lend their excellent vocal talents to the mix. Willie might be getting old but his family star should continue to shine bright!
