Robert Randolph & The Family Band Rock The Taft
Robert Randolph & The Family Band played a great show last night to a sold out Taft Ballroom. They played several originals and dazzled a few covers, including Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile. They are on a national tour and seem to be enjoying life immensely. Robert Randolph has a new album out entitled "Got Soul." He was signing the album for at least half an hour after the show. The vibe in the room was very positive and people were getting their groove on. The opening band, The New Respects put on a solid performance as well, so get there early if you catch this tour. (Photos are all of one angle as there was no photo pit and limited room to move.)

Puscifer at Taft Theater
Puscifer played to a sold out crowd at the Taft Theater on Friday night. Puscifer is the side project band of Maynard James Keenan (Tool, Perfect Circle). The evening started with a full-on wrestling match with lots of professional wrestlers on stage with a full arena set-up. Then Maynard and Carina Round came into the arena to perform a full set of Puscifer's best material. The crowd was in for a great show and lots of loyal fans packed the seats.

Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds
Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds put on another great performance at The Taft Theater last Thursday night. This Brooklyn based band is super tight and blends a mix of soul, funk, rock and overall great music. Arleigh literally has one of the strongest voices on tour these days. Check them out on tour as this band is only getting better and better.

Gov't Mule Halloween Extravaganza with Neil Young Tribute
Mulaween took place on October 31, 2014 at The Taft Theater with special guest Jackie Greene (touring member of Black Crowes, Mark Knopfler, BB King, Ratdog, Buddy Guy, etc). The first set included Mule songs and the second set was all Neil Young. The band played for three and a half hours and played 37 songs. They played every classic Neil Young song including "Hey Hey My My, Down by the River, Southern Man, Ohio, Heart of Gold, Rockin in the Free World, " and many more. The encore of "Cortez the Killer" was a crowd and personal favorite. Check out the setlist at Mule Net.

David Byrne with St. Vincent
David Byrne and St. Vincent are currently on tour in the United States and are making their way around the festival tour and intimate venues such as the Taft Theater. The band played most of their new album and several classic Talking Heads songs on this particular evening. This has been one of my favorite performances of a summer that has been filled with music and festivals.
