Otherwise and Wayland Rock Central Illinois at Top Fuel Saloon in Braidwood, Illinois

Top Fuel Saloon, Braidwood, Illinois March 31st, 2018
Review and Photos by Jeremy Rickman of JKR Photography

Top Fuel Saloon has been called the CBGB of the Midwest. Owner Freak is a local DJ at the metal station at Q-Rock 100.7 at the moment but has been a staple for Rock and Metal for the last 25 years in the Chicago area including 9 years as a sidekick to Madcow's Morning Madhouse. Opening 2 years ago Top Fuel Saloon has been a stop for up-and-coming bands as well as major headliners to stop and rest, relax, jam out, and have a place to call home if only for a night or two. On March 31st they celebrated their 2nd Anniversary and Otherwise, Wayland, Vital Empire and Backlash helped party the night away.

Celebrating 50 Years of The Grateful Dead

The Grateful Dead at Soldier Field - Fare Thee Well Tour
This past July marked arguably one of the most epic spectacles in the history of live rock n’ roll.  Over the Fourth of July weekend The Grateful Dead reunited for the last three of five shows to mark their 50th anniversary in what they said are the final shows that they will be playing as a complete group on a short tour they called Fare Thee Well.  They chose Soldier Field in Chicago in Chicacgo, Illinois as the venue for these magnanimous performances because it is the last location that The Grateful Dead played with late front man Jerry Garcia before his untimely passing.   The group brought on Trey Anastasio of Phish fame as a Jerry replacement, as well as keys players Bruce Hornsby and Jeff Chimenti.  Despite the pressure of having such large shoes to fill, Trey did a great job singing lead vocals on many songs as well as switching off lead guitar with Bob Weir.  With around 70,000 people attending each night, these shows were truly for the record books.  They could not have chosen a better location.  The warm summer nights and beautiful scenery including the surrounding skyscrapers looming in the background provided the perfect aesthetic for a phenomenal  musical experience.

Chicago & Earth, Wind and Fire Take the Stage Together for an All-Star Performance

Chicago joined forces with their touring mates Earth, Wind and Fire last night at Riverbend Music Center. Needless to say, there were a lot of people on one stage but they sounded very tight, like they have been doing this together for years. Chicago is only second to The Beach Boys in Billboard singles and album chart success in the music industry, which gives the band some serious clout. Riverbend was packed with loyal fans of both bands.

The Music Never Stopped...Thievery Corporation & Beats Antique At Grateful Dead's 50th Anniversary-Fare Thee Well Extravaganza

Thievery Corporation & Beats Antique played for a full house at the Aragon Theater in downtown Chicago for the Grateful Dead's Fare Thee Well weekend. They played several originals and mixed in about 20 Grateful Dead songs including The Other One, China Cat, Eyes of the World, Scarlet, Fire, etc. There were musician and celebrity sightings at this performance and the crowd was in the groove all night. This weekend was the most fun we have had in a long time and will be ingrained into our souls forever. We got the chance to catch all the Soldier Field Dead shows with Trey Anastasio. More photos to come of this spectacular weekend.
