From the moment frontman, singer, guitarist, and founding member Mike Peters walked out on stage the crowd of hundreds of adoring fans were instantly transported back to the 80's. There is something about seeing a great 80's band in a small packed club with brick walls and lots of colored lighting that just makes it all magically come together.

Peters and his wife Jules (keyboards, backup vocals) were joined on stage by drummer, Steve "Smiley" Barnard, who has been with the band since 2010, and guitarist James Stevenson, who has been with the band since 1999. Stevenson played bass on most songs while Peters played rhythm-lead guitar. Towards the end of the show Smiley came out from behind his kit and played a bit of lead guitar on Peters' acoustic as well.

Peters' high energy performance included running between three mics spread across the front of the stage, several enthusiastic leaps into the air, and of course his traditional spraying water on the crowd during "Rain in the Summertime" and flipping a deck of cars out into the crowd during "Where Were You Hiding When the Storm Broke?"

The thing that amazed me the most about this concert was Peters' ability to give the band such a full sound even though the lead was masterfully played on an acoustic guitar. They skillfully mixed in seven songs from their newest release "Equals" without making a big deal about it other than mentioning that it was available at the merchandise table. The new songs blended seamlessly with the well known hits and the band's energy was contagious. It was obvious that the band was having fun playing together and the entire crowd sang along with every classic song, raising their hands when asked, and Mr. Peters did a great job making us all feel like we were part of the show.

After thoroughly entertaining us through several songs, the band left the stage briefly followed by Peters' return for an encore of two solo songs after which his band-mates joined him for the grand finale.

If you like the music from this band you'll love seeing and hearing them live. Don't miss the opportunity when they come to a venue near you.
