There was something special going down at Nashville's 3rd and Lindsley Sunday night. The Raelyn Nelson band opened up, warming up the crowd for Uncle Luke (as Raelyn calls him) with their unique blend of Rock N Roll (with a lil bit of country). Then the headliner, Lukas Nelson's Promise of the Real proceeded to melt down the house with one of the most powerful performances ever seen and heard at 3rd and Lindsley.
Lukas formed Promise of the Real in 2008 and has paid his dues since then. While it does not hurt when Willie Nelson is your father, it still takes talent, hard work, and years of playing/touring to make it. Recently Lukas and POTR have been become Neil Young's backup band, further honing his/their musical skills. That it has all come together for them was apparent at this show. When fellow artists such as Lucinda Williams and Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) come out to see you play, you know you have arrived. Also, unique to this show was the backing vocals from the “Whiskey Brunettes”. If you missed this epic show you can at least hear a live recording of both Raelyn's and POTR's sets courtesy of Radio Lightning 100 with the links listed below the photos. But the best thing is to check out their websites for the upcoming shows. You will not be disappointed.
