Steve Martin’s life long dream realized!!

By Butch Worrell

It was a beautiful late spring evening at Fontanel, especially considering the storms, rain, and cicada invasion that had been plaguing Meddle Tennessee for weeks. Jonathon Martin from WSMV TV even announced while introducing Steve Martin that it was to be a “Cicada Free” evening which the crowd cheered. And who would have known that Steve’s life long dream was to play White’s Creek Tennessee!
A fact he announced upon taking the stage, resplendent in his white suit (Just like Billy Sunday).

Steve and the Steep Canyon Rangers launched into a night of beautiful bluegrass melodies, interspaced with Steve’s comedic moments. One moment you are tapping your feet, swaying with the music, the next laughing your ass off at Steve’s quips. Highlighting his new album “Rare Bird”, Steve showed why the likes of Paul McCartney and the Dixie Chicks would contribute their talent to his. Lost in the music’ Steve, the Rangers, and the rest of us could forget about the travails of the outside world,, Steve had realized his life long dream of playing in Whites Creek, and we were the beneficiaries…All was right with the world. A great evening heralding a summer of more music to come amongst the hills of Fontanel.

Great job, Butch. The photos make me feel as if I was there.
