The Lumineers World Tour at US Bank Arena with Andrew Bird and Margaret Glaspy

The Lumineers are on their "Cleopatra World Tour" that made a stop at US Bank Arena last night. The openers were Margaret Glaspy followed by Andrew Bird. Last night was sold out. All three bands put on quite a performance. I haven't seen Andrew Bird or The Lumineers in several years and I was completely blown away. The band had great energy from start to encore. The Lumineers went into the middle of the arena and played on a riser above the crowd which seemed more intimate than just playing on the front stage. I didn't know the Lumineers had such a following, until last evening as the crowd was into every song that was performed. The band leaves here to play a few shows at Madison Square Gardens. With the passing of Butch Trucks another link to the music of the Allman Brothers band is gone. Yet the music does live on as was shown recently at the Tivoli Theater in Chattanooga. There the Tedeschi Trucks band and the Jack Pearson Trio delivered a show that demonstrated that the torch has been passed to very capable hands.

It was just about a year ago when Butch Trucks brought his “Freight Train” to Nashville City Winery. One of the top Rock drummers ever, Butch was happiest driving the beat. An original Allman brother, his skill and passion on the drums helped make the ABB what it was. When they finally closed down Butch just had to keep going. And just one band was not enough.

When news hit that the Nashville City Winery was hosting a Bonaparte's Retreat benefit featuring EmmyLou Harris and John Prine it was an instant sell out. Two of Music City's biggest stars together up close and personal...how much better can you get? Well, you could have Sheryl Crow come out and sit in for most of the show, that's how much better you can get.
